A few years ago, a friend asked me to write a song for her, and call it "Song for Carolyn". She's an artist and said she would paint me a picture. So we did a swap.

After I wrote "Song for Carolyn", it occured to me to write some more songs for friends - the next was "Jean's Song", written to the memory of a good friend Jean, who died in 2008. Next, I'm almost finished with "Song for Marshia", again dedicated to a friend who died a few years ago. I tried to describe her laughter in music.....she loved to laugh and had an infectious laugh. So, I will continue doing more, descriptive of the personalities of the people for whom they are named. All relatively short piano pieces, I will call the album simply "FRIENDS". 

The next big project I'm working on is a concerto for bass flute and orchestra. My son-in-law in Arizona is a wonderful musician, and his instrument is flute....also sax. He has a C flute, an alto flute and now as of a few years ago, a bass flute.
